About My Blog

Hello! And welcome to my blog “4 and 20 Sparrows”! My name is Tonya Willman. Hubby and I live in a little canyon town in extremely northern California. AARP writes me regularly now, so I have had to come to terms with middle age. Our grandchildren are also proof of this.
“Blog” is such a ludicrous word really; say it five-times-fast and is will sound like the sound your shoes make walking through mud, or possibly a type of fruit, that comes from the planet Zorgon… Blogging has been a mixture of great fun and incredible frustration for me
4 and 20 Sparrows has just recently had a total remodel. Remodeling is such a pain. In the real world there are walls to knock down, new ones to put up, and crap to throw away that you haven’t used in years, and…. WOW! I didn’t even know I had one of those! Hmmm…. Maybe it was a gag gift from somebody. It certainly makes me gag!
Well it is similar in cyber space; accept for the part where it’s not. When you have the computer skills of a group of ADD afflicted spider monkeys who have misplaced their behavioral meds, well…it poses problems. There came a time where I felt sure that blogspot was out to get me. They seemed either vindictive or ran by middle-management recruited from every tedious fast-food establishment I have ever been to, or possible tech-support from distant and exotic places.
Now, through a lot of therapy, I am ready to admit that a wee bit of it could have been epic ineptitude on my part. I actually tried to quit blog spot…but I have come to accept our dysfunctional relationship. At least blogspot is fairly user-friendly (code for: dorks can do it)…I mean most things don’t work on it, but even my teeny tiny synapses can comprehend the concept of ‘point and click’. I tried Tumblr, but it expects you to know stuff!  Still, I do try!
This blog is a mixture of humor, spirituality and all of my muses, those things that inspire me. It is a reflection of me, as a Christian and…a lunatic!

How My Blog Got It’s Name
I know, I know,…I hear you asking; ‘Why 4 and 20 Sparrows?’ No? Then perhaps it’s just the voices again. But since you're here I’ll tell you--first, for the stoners, it has utterly nothing to do with 4/20, but hang out anyway, cuz dude, you may be amused.
One day on FB, I was pondering on the weirdness of four-and-twenty LIVE blackbirds jammed into a pie (actually; kudos to the baker who wrestled in, and kept them there until the crust was golden brown) only to have them fly out crazed and vengeful. My Facebook friends are the best,---You make think yours are. You would be mistaken--- so we covered a host of nursery rhyme characters and their odd antics. It became a big dish of delicious silliness! I then replaced the angry blackbirds with lovely little sparrows. Because, as a Christian, I know that the Father knows when even one sparrow falls. Since my BLOG is a mix of both the humorous and the spiritual, I thought it fit. So, please to enjoy most honorable blog…

                                                                    About My Art

You will see a page titled “My Art” which is extremely appropriate, because… it is! I work in watercolors and sometimes colored pencils. Most of the work you will see is sold or gifted away, just a misty memory really. However, some pieces are still available.
Occasionally I do commissions. If you are interested in commissioning a piece of art please email me at: sedaliawish@yahoo.com  Also please put the word “commission” in the subject line, or I may think it is spam. I am death on spam!

                                                            Thanks! ~*~ Tonya ~*~
